Photos — Immich Integration

TREK integrates with Immich to bring your travel photos into your trip timeline. Immich is a self-hosted photo management solution (similar to Google Photos).

Setup

Immich Permissions

1. In your Immich instance, go to User Settings → API Keys
2. Create a new API key for TREK
3. The API key needs access to: user.read, asset.read, asset.view, asset.download, album.read

TREK Configuration

1. In TREK, go to Settings → Immich
2. Enter:
   • Immich Server URL — The URL of your Immich instance (e.g. https://photos.example.com)
   • API Key — The API key you created in Immich
3. Save — TREK will verify the connection

Note: Immich settings are per-user. Each user connects their own Immich library.

Using Photos

Once connected:

1. Open a trip and go to the Photos tab
2. Browse your Immich library by timeline (grouped by month)
3. Search photos by date range matching your trip dates
4. Add photos to the trip — they appear as trip photos visible to all members
5. Toggle sharing per photo — control which photos trip members can see

Album Linking

Instead of adding photos one by one, you can link entire Immich albums:

1. Click Link Album in the Memories panel
2. Select an album from your Immich library
3. TREK syncs all photos from that album into the trip
4. Re-sync anytime to pull in newly added photos from the album

• Timeline browsing — Photos grouped by date buckets from your Immich library
• Date range search — Automatically suggests photos from your trip dates
• Trip photo gallery — Added photos are shared with all trip members
• Per-photo sharing toggle — Choose which photos are visible to others
• Photo metadata — Display date, location, and camera info in a lightbox info panel
• Lightbox — Full-screen photo viewer with EXIF data, location, and camera details
• Sort — Sort photos by date (ascending/descending)
• Location filter — Filter photos by city or country
• Search — Search within your Immich library by keyword
• Thumbnails + originals — Proxied through TREK's server (your Immich URL is never exposed to other users)
• Album sync — Link Immich albums and sync photos automatically

Requirements

• A running Immich instance (self-hosted)
• Immich API key with read access
• Network connectivity between TREK and Immich (can be on the same LAN)
