  3. Drag & drop a cover image directly onto the upload area, or click to upload, or paste from clipboard
  4. Add members — invite other users during trip creation via the member dropdown
  5. Dates can be entered manually by double-clicking the date picker fields (supports DD.MM.YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD)
  6. Click Create — TREK auto-generates day entries based on your dates (up to 90 days)

Dashboard

  • Grid / List toggle — switch between card grid and compact list view (saved in localStorage)
  • Currency converter widget — 50 currencies, toggleable
  • Timezone clock widget — toggleable
  • Trip cards show cover image, dates, member avatars, and progress

Adding Places

In the trip planner:

  1. Click + Add Place or use the map to add locations
  2. Fill in name, address, category, and time
  3. If Google Maps API is configured, you can search for places and auto-fill details (ratings, opening hours, photos)
  4. Without Google API, OpenStreetMap search (Nominatim) works out of the box
  5. Right-click on the map to add a place with auto reverse geocoding

Place Details

Each place can have:

  • Category — Accommodation, Restaurant, Sight, Shopping, Transport, Activity, Bar/Cafe, Beach, Nature, Other (customizable by admin)
  • Start time & End time — When to visit
  • Duration — How long the visit takes
  • Notes — Personal notes with text
  • Description — Longer text description (toggleable in Settings)
  • Website & Phone — Contact information
  • Tags — Custom labels with colors for filtering
  • Price — Cost with currency
  • Photos — From OSM/Wikimedia Commons enrichment or Google Places

Importing Places

  • GPX file import — Upload .gpx files to auto-create places from waypoints. Supports <wpt>, <rtept>, <trkpt>, CDATA names, and any lat/lon attribute order
  • Google Maps URL — Paste any Google Maps URL into the search bar (short URLs, full place URLs, embedded coordinates). TREK resolves the URL and extracts the location
  • OSM Enrichment — When a place is created from the map, TREK auto-fetches opening hours, website, phone, and a photo from OpenStreetMap/Wikimedia Commons (no Google API required)

Day Planning

  • Drag & drop places between days to organize your schedule
  • Reorder places within a day using drag & drop or arrow buttons
  • Day notes — Add timestamped notes with custom icons (e.g. flight times, reminders)
  • Unassigned places stay in the place list until you assign them to a day
  • Timed places auto-sort chronologically when a time is added
  • Chronological enforcement — Moving a timed place out of order triggers a confirmation popup
  • Participant assignment — Assign trip members to specific places on a day
