Public Share Links
Share your trip as a read-only link — no login required. Perfect for sharing itineraries with friends, family, or travel companions who don't have a TREK account.
Creating a Share Link
- Open a trip in the planner
- Click the Share button in the navbar
- Select Public Link
- Choose what to include:
| Permission | What's Visible |
|---|---|
| Map & Plan | Interactive map, day-by-day itinerary, places, notes |
| Bookings | Reservations and accommodation details |
| Packing | Packing list with categories and check status |
| Budget | Expense breakdown and totals |
| Chat | Collaborative notes, polls, and messages |
- Copy the generated link and share it
Shared Page
The shared page is a beautiful read-only view with:
- Cover image background and trip branding
- Tabbed layout — only tabs matching the selected permissions are shown
- Interactive map with place markers and day filtering
- Day-by-day plan with places, times, notes, transport bookings, and accommodations
- Language picker — Visitors can switch the UI language without needing an account
- Always light mode — The shared page renders in light mode regardless of the logged-in user's theme
- TREK branding with logo and tagline
How it Works
- Each share link contains a unique token
- Permissions are enforced server-side — the API only returns data matching the selected permissions
- No authentication required — anyone with the link can view the trip
- Share links can be revoked at any time by deleting them in the share settings
Notes
- Shared pages are read-only — visitors cannot edit anything
- The link works across devices and browsers
- Share links do not expire automatically (unless revoked)
