Admin Update Checker

The Admin Panel shows a banner when a newer version is available on GitHub:

  • Docker installs: Shows the docker pull + restart commands
  • Git installs: One-click self-update button (pulls, installs, restarts)
  • Includes a confirmation dialog with backup recommendation

What Gets Preserved

Your data is stored in the mounted volumes and survives updates:

  • Database (./data/travel.db) — all trips, users, settings
  • Uploads (./uploads/) — photos, documents, covers, avatars
  • Backups (./data/backups/) — auto-backup archives
  • JWT secret (./data/.jwt_secret) — keeps sessions valid after update

Checking Your Version

Click your profile icon in the top-right corner — the version number is shown at the bottom of the dropdown menu (e.g. TREK v2.7.1).

Database Migrations

Database migrations run automatically on startup. When you update to a new version, TREK detects any pending migrations and applies them before the server starts. No manual steps are required.

Cache Invalidation

TREK automatically invalidates the PWA service worker cache when a new version is detected. Users will receive the latest assets after the update without needing to manually clear their browser cache.
